CobotsVETMed aim to address the urgent need for automation literacy through Industry 4.0 in Tunisia and Algeria. The project endeavors to enhance the efficacy and relevance of VET, thereby contributing to workforce in context with fostering collaboration and innovation specifically in the use of cobots.

The Problem

While much of the developed world is already benefiting from the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), South Mediterranean countries in particular Tunisia and Algeria, stand at a crucial crossroads in their economic and industrial development. They struggle with outdated skills, weak industry links, low digitalisation, leaving youth, mostly women unemployed and industries underserved.

Our Solution

Addressing the pressing need for sustainable industrial transformation and workforce development in Tunisia and Algeria through a modern VET Industrial Training Programme with a focus on cobot applications relevant to SMEs operating in a market where the use of automation and robotics is growing, while promoting lifelong training, digital twin and inclusive access.

CobotsVETMed Training programmes will address:

  • Cobots programming
  • How to operate cobots following safety protocols and
  • Basic troubleshooting

The Impact

CobotsVETMed will bridge the gap between traditional training methods and the evolving needs of the industrial sector by developing:

  • Practical Vocational Training: Cobots will be immediately integrated into courses, allowing students to gain real-world automation experience relevant to modern manufacturing.
  • Job-Ready Skills: Graduates will develop practical automation skills, making them more competitive in local and regional job markets.
  • Wider Learning Access: A MOOC and virtual training environments will ensure that cobot education is available beyond physical classrooms, reaching students regardless of location.
  • Entrepreneurship: Partner schools and training centers will enhance their capacity to teach digital and automation skills, strengthening their role in vocational education.
