On 12 October 2026, CobotsVETMed was presented at the transnational meeting of the BOOST AI project, held in Bolzano, Italy. The presentation was delivered by Ana Stamatescu, an Educational Technologies Consultant from Asti Automation, a partner of the CobotsVETMed project. The meeting brought together representatives of the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, KAINOTOMIA, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, the Bistriţa-Năsăud Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Gdańsk University of Technology.
BOOST AI (Building Opportunities for SMEs’ Sustainable Entrepreneurship with Artificial Intelligence in Industry 5.0) is an Erasmus+ project that aims to strengthen the digital competencies of higher education students in the field of artificial intelligence. In doing so, it seeks to encourage early adoption of AI in Industry 5.0 and entrepreneurship, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, through a bottom-up approach that extends from students to industry.
The host centre was equipped with several collaborative robots, which provided Asti Automation with a fitting opportunity to showcase its contribution to the development of the training content for the two comprehensive modules of CobotsVETMed, designed for young people in Tunisia and Algeria. Ms Stamatescu focused on the Universal Robots ecosystem and the UR3e cobot, helping learners to understand its technical characteristics, programming environment, safety functions and integration possibilities in industrial automation. She added that the second module, which comprises five units, develops practical skills through case studies on pick-and-place operations, computer numerical control (CNC) machine tending and programmable logic controller (PLC-based) automation, enabling learners to design and integrate collaborative robotics solutions in realistic industrial manufacturing environments. CobotsVETMed training programme is available on the Smart Step e-learning platform, hosted by AREA, a partner of the CobotsVETMed project.
The synergy between BOOST AI, CobotsVETMed and Smart Step reflects the European Union’s commitment to advancing digital education in support of the digital and green transitions, while promoting accessibility, inclusion and sustainability in the work undertaken.
